Become a LiveWell Longmont Coalition Member

Whether you’re an organization or an individual community member, you can partner with LiveWell Longmont by joining our Coalition. LiveWell Longmont Coalition Members not only care about healthy eating and active living, but work with larger groups to effect positive change. Show your support by promoting and volunteering at events, and by supporting programs and projects in the community. There is no fee to join.

Throughout the year, we coordinate and support a variety of healthy events and activities within the Longmont community. Educational workshops and healthy hours are a few examples of events we’ve consistently helped support. We actively seek sponsorships to help facilitate these events, and to ensure they are successful. If you’re interested in either an ongoing sponsorship or a one-time donation, your contributions make an invaluable difference that will affect the entire community.

We’re hiring! The bi-lingual Community Engagement Strategist  will be responsible for and will coordinate the formation and operation of a community-led, neighborhood focused approach designed to elevate the voices of community members in the prioritized neighborhoods within Longmont. These neighborhoods face factors currently associated with higher prevalence of health disparities such as diabetes and other chronic diseases. Through this work, the strategist position will create, engage and mobilize allies throughout the community that can support and assist needs identified by community members and will collaborate with neighborhood leaders. The position will close at 5 PM on October 10.

Keep your New Year’s Resolutions going and join the City of Longmont Recreation Services at our Windows to Wellness Fair!  This Fair boasts a variety of vendors to give you the latest information on your health and nutritional needs.  Fitness classes will be happening throughout the day so you can try something new to shake up your body.

In addition to the multiple vendors and fitness classes, you can sign-up for individualized sessions with alternative wellness practitioners and holistic healers.  Each 10-minute session is $5 or $10 for a double session (20 minutes)– please bring small bills.

 Sugar Panel Event from St. Vrain Healthy Kids and Boulder County Public Health

In collaboration with Boulder County Public Health, the parent nutrition-advocacy group St. Vrain Healthy Kids is offering two key educational events informing the Longmont community about the harms of sugary drinks while promoting healthy alternatives, like water.  The first event will be held at the Longmont Youth Center January 22, and will be speaking particularly to teens and their families.  A second event is scheduled for April 18 at the Longmont Museum.Panel members will include Dr. Yaira Oquendo-Figueroa, Director of Training for Behavioral Health at Salud Medical Center; Dr. Jody Davis, DDS Family Dentistry at Salud Medical Center; and Michael Beer, Medical Director at Salud Medical Director at Salud Medical Center.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is a ground-breaking prevention program. The course teaches participants the risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges that are common among adolescents and young adults. YMHFA is implemented around the U.S. and the world. Research has shown that the training enhances behavioral health literacy, reduces stigma, increases knowledge of professional and self-help resources, increases participants’ confidence helping in a crisis situation, and improves behavioral health of participants.. Join in the movement to raise awareness about this important issue.

Friday, February 2
An 8-hour certification course that introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adults over the age of 65, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an older adult in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge.
